As the students enter a group in progress, they will soon discover that the curriculum phase manuals are value-based. The curriculum structure includes an introductory phase and seven additional phases based on fundamental values deemed to be critical to our social well-being. The values include Courage, Self-discipline, Respect, Honesty, Work Ethic, Trust, and Compassion. The seven values have been symbolically tied to seven directions of Native American Culture. We use native lore and craft because of the spiritual appeal it lends to the environment, and the cultural fascination it carries toward establishing a "Rite of Passage" and a positive peer atmosphere. Through each of the phases, the student will explore a specific value in great depth. Reading stories and introspective writing exercises help internalize both the cognitive and the behavioral aspects of the value.
